The Procedure
Bosley hair transplantation is minor outpatient surgery because it only deals with the outermost layers of the body: the epidermis and the dermis, which contain the hair follicles (roots).
Permanent, lifetime hairs are found in good supply in virtually all men, concentrated in a horseshoe-shaped area at the very back of the head. This region is called the "donor area." Hair transplantation uses excess hairs from this donor area and relocates them-follicles and all-to areas of thinning and balding on top or at the front of the head.
The complex part of hair transplantation is the artistic demand it places on the Bosley physician. Like a fine artist or portrait sculptor, the Bosley physician has the skill to design a natural looking hairline that's correct for the shape of your face, your features, and your age; subject, of course, to your final approval. He or she then chooses the correct texture of hair from the donor area, the density of the grafts, and the various follicular graft sizes (1, 2, 3 and occasional 4 hair grafts blended to achieve very natural fullness and density).
Finally, each graft is skillfully placed in the proper area, position, and angle. Your Bosley physician carefully checks the follicles so that they can grow to form a natural and virtually unnoticeable finished result.
